Re-imaginING THE PRESENTATION OF AN IMPORTANT collection

For this exhibit, a small underused gallery and the guitars displayed within it were made to feel more inviting by using large-scale images of diverse musicians, and creative rethinking of space constraints.

Inside Out

The number of guitars that could be displayed was greatly increased by turning existing windows of the gallery into cases, affording views to both sides of guitars, and extending the experience beyond previous gallery confines.

Artists & Instruments

A timeline of iconic guitars makes associations between artists and guitars, to focus attention on those who played them, and to humanize the artifacts for a larger audience.
